As hat connoisseurs, we're sticklers for the way a hat fits and can take a good guess that you are too. So, as with any hat we launch, we're going to tell you exactly how this hat fits to ensure it's the right one for your noggin. Because we know how much it stinks to buy something that ends up not fitting.
Richardson 256 Fit: Mid-profile, unstructured. Richardson calls it a high profile, but we disagree. If you have a big head, this hat may feel a little shallow for you. If your head is on the smaller side, this hat is a winner. The mesh flip-up stay does indeed hold the structure of the front panel no matter how much abuse you give it. Plus, we can personally confirm it's a very comfortable hat that does not press down on your ears (aka doesn't cause a headache).
Material: Nylon / cotton blend (85/15). Honestly for a day on the water and in the heat, this hat is super comfortable and keeps your head cool. The "Standard cotton sweatband with added vapor barrier reduces sweat diffusion," according to Richardson. Sure, something like that. The hat still sweats, don't care what they say. But we're also yet to find a hat that doesn't. So, tomato tomatoe.
Awesome features: UPF 50+ rating. That's right, no head sunburn will occur.
Recommended activities while wearing: Poling a skiff, fly fishing, beer drinking, pretending to be a bbq expert, Sunday drives, picking on a six-string, date night (ladies literally love this hat), early morning plane flights, happy hour, and we've made it an official office-approved dress code item.
